A Conservative Challenge for the Candidates of Arizona

Filed under: My Posts — thearizonasentinel @ 11:02 pm
Well I hope every body had a great Thanksgiving. You’d never know I was a Conservative considering all the great chow I consumed.

Speaking of Conservatives,. I have come up with a challenge, actually it wasn’t me, it was a voter that I met last week while collecting signatures to get on the ballot for Governor next fall. Anyway here’s the Challenge:

Arizona is broke,.  The State had to borrow , 250 million recently just to pay salaries. Employee salaries I would suggest should have been cut the day Brewer took the reigns.

We have several folks running around wanting to be the next Governor of Arizona. Lets see how Conservative they really are.  Lets see if your conservatism is real or just a politically popular campaign banner.

Arizona , has a program called Clean Elections. For those of us that are running for Governor. If we go out and collect , 5500 five dollar donations to the clean elections fund, candidates are awarded with just over 700 thousand dollars to use for the primary , and then the successful primary winner , is awarded an additional one million plus to pay for TV ads or whatever for the General Election.

So assuming that there are 5 Republicans, 2 Democrats and 1 Independent that will qualify, that would mean that 5.6 million dollars would be used by candidates just for the primary and another 2 million plus for the General.

So here is the challenge,.. Do what this Conservative Libertarian has done. We said NO.

No taxpayer state dollars will be used by my campaign. No So Called Clean Elections money will be used to fund TV and Radio ads.

I say rather than spend all this money  7.6 million dollars. For a job that pays 95 thousand.  Give that money to State Treasure Dean Martin to pay down the debt.

If you are really a Conservative, this you will do.  If not here’s the question. Are you a Conservative unless Conservatism gets in the way?
